The Minister for Education has overall responsibility for the Education portfolio. This includes:

• The Child Care Subsidy
• Working with states and territories to support the early childhood education sector, with primary responsibility for child care policy and funding
• The Government’s Building Early Education Fund
• Quality and safety measures for the ECEC sector
• Working with states and territories to build a better and fairer school system
• Funding and governance of Australia’s higher education sector
• Managing the integrity and sustainability of Australia’s international education sector
• Reforms and investment in research and development.
