New Suburban University Study Hub opens in Liverpool

Ministers:

The Hon Jason Clare MP
Minister for Education

A new Suburban University Study Hub (SUSH) is launching in Liverpool, bringing university closer for students in Western Sydney.

Nearly half of young Australians have a degree, but not in Western Sydney.

The evidence shows that where Study Hubs are, university participation goes up.

The new Liverpool Study Hub is located at TAFE NSW Block M, Bigge Street, Liverpool.

It offers support services and study facilities for local students enrolled at any university or vocational education and training provider, including six full-time staff.

The Hub is also open to senior high school students.

The new location is part of the Albanese Government’s $66.9 million investment to more than double the number of University Study Hubs across the country.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Education Jason Clare:

“Almost one in two young people in their 20s and 30s have a university degree today. But not everywhere, and not in Western Sydney.

“That’s why we are doubling the number of University Study Hubs and for the first time putting them in the outer suburbs.

“I know growing up in Western Sydney, a lot of my friends felt like university was somewhere else for someone else.

“I want to change that, and that means bringing university closer to where more people live.”
