Free short courses to help teachers in the classroom

Teachers will soon be able to upskill for free with new microcredential courses focused on teaching phonics and managing classrooms.

Evidenced-based and developed by experts, the new courses will help to further empower teachers in the classroom and improve outcomes for their students.

The Albanese Government is investing more than $3 million in funding to the University of Adelaide to design and deliver the courses.

The free microcredentials will provide vital professional development opportunities for teachers, school staff and school leaders.

The microcredential qualifications will offer teachers credit towards a post-graduate study award with the School of Education at the University of Adelaide.

This investment is part of the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan and builds on the Government’s Engaged Classrooms initiative, which is developing free classroom management resources for teachers.

The online microcredential courses will be available from next year.

The University of Adelaide contract is the first phase of the Government’s $5 million investment to develop and deliver evidence-based microcredentials in teacher professional development.
