Helping young Australians connect with government and services
The Albanese Government is ensuring young Australians can connect with government and access the information and support they need.
Minster for Youth Dr Anne Aly today launched a new Digital Youth Hub, to help young people navigate government services, share ideas with the Government and get involved in government decision-making.
The Hub includes resources and information relating to health and wellbeing, education and training, employment, the environment and “life stuff” - which includes housing, voting and how to access financial support.
“Shaped by young people, the Digital Youth Hub is a fantastic resource to connect them with useful information and advice such as why you need a Tax File Number, and how to get a Medicare card,” said Dr Aly.
“We’re empowering young people to have their say on Government issues and matters affecting them by making it easy and accessible for them to voice their ideas or concerns.”
Also launched today is a new Youth Engagement Toolkit to improve the capability of the Australian Public Service to engage with young people.
The Toolkit will help government departments and agencies design, deliver and evaluate youth engagement initiatives to support policy and program development, with the aim of increasing involvement of young people in Government decision making.
“Building the capability of Government to engage effectively with young people is a cornerstone of Engage! and the toolkit will support us to achieve this across government,” Dr Aly said.
The Digital Youth Hub and the Youth Engagement Toolkit are key actions of the Government’s youth engagement strategy, Engage! A strategy to include young people in the decisions we make.
