New online service to help thousands of training graduates

People who have undertaken nationally recognised training in Australia will now be able to quickly and easily obtain an online record of their hard-earned accomplishments and qualifications.

Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, Karen Andrews, today launched the USI Transcript Service which will allow training participants to easily look up their national training record.

“The USI Transcript Service uses a student’s Unique Student Identifier (USI) to link together the national records of training that a person has completed at different training providers, in different states and in different years back to 2015,” Minister Andrews said.

“Training participants and graduates can view, download or print their USI Transcript and share it electronically with future training providers if they wish.

“This is a simple and effective way to help future generations provide a record of their training outcomes to demonstrate their qualifications to training providers or employers when they may have lost their original copy.

“It will help training participants and graduates when enrolling in further training or applying for jobs as well as support Australian businesses to get a better understanding of their employees’ level of training.

“It will also assist businesses to reduce the unnecessary and wasteful retraining that sometimes results from lost credentials.

“The new service will enable the Federal Government and policy makers to get a clearer picture of the skills pathways that Australians pursue, and importantly, the ones that work.”

The USI Transcript doesn’t replace the training credentials issued directly by training providers and will need to be used in conjunction with other evidence of training to cover the years prior to 2015.

More than 6 million Australian training participants now have a USI. Over time, the USI Transcript will become an increasingly valuable supplement to the documentation issued by training providers.
